This book presents for the first time fully documented the story of 50 young Schoa survivors, who decided to kill six million Germans. The group members, mostly partisans and underground fighters from Eastern Europe, led by the admired poet and partisan Abba Kovner, wished to take revenge on the Germans as a nation, which they held responsible for the murder of millions of Jews. They wanted to show to the world that Jewish blood would no longer be shed with impunity. Dina Porat presents the events on the basis of personal testimonies and many documents found in archives, brochures and in the homes of Nakam members. She also discusses the moral questions connected to the concept of revenge.
