Aufsatze zur Pfarreigeschichte in Mittelalter und Fruher Neuzeit

The essays focus on the predominantly institutional phenomena of the medieval and early modern parish and law in action. Phenomena examined here are Pfarrpfrunde, Kirchenvermogen, Kirchenpatronat and Pfarrzwang among others. The Pfrunde (prebends) of the priest originated in the cities from the Pfarrland but most of all on the previous voluntary intra-missal oblations, originated during the High Medieval Period from compulsory obligations on four Solemnities. As they were very lucrative, the abbeys gladly incorporated Pfarrpfrunde in villages and cities. The last contribution deals with the problem of widow care as priests were allowed to marry after the Reformation.
